a new children’s cultural centre in BrightonTumblr (3.0; @recreatebrighton)http://recreatebrighton.tumblr.com/<p><div>Brighton Children&#8217;s Festival hosted a creative, interactive and sensory event for 0-2 year olds at the Dome on Saturday 14th April called Brave Steps. The event was developed and presented by a team of artists working in partnership with the Recreate Trust and gave parents an opportunity to follow their children&#8217;s interests in a relaxed environment, and to notice the way that their children responded.</div> <div></div> <div>When babies are born, only 20-25% of their brains are developed. <span>In the first three years their brains develop faster than at any other time in the rest of their lives.</span><span> </span><span>Input into babies’ lives at this stage creates synaptic connections, and creates context and meaning and knowledge.</span><span> </span><span>At this age, the experiences we provide and share with our children can shape the way their brains develop.</span> <p class="MsoNormal">The artist team was: <span>Alex Sutton-Vane, Anne Colvin, Clare Halstead, Jane Gordon, Jenny Staff, Vicky Cave</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span>Here&#8217;s some of the feedback we had from parents:</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span>&#8220;Our 7 month old was in heaven - lovely stuff!&#8221;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">&#8220;A really nice chance to watch A. make decisions and explore in a safe environment.&#8221;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&#8220;L &amp; G loved it!
